SHIFTED BIO

Recent years has seen Shifted rise swiftly from the murky shadows of UK Techno. Little is known of who the cryptic producer is, but rest assured of his credentials. ‘Drained’, his first of two EPs on Luke Slater’s esteemed Mote Evolver imprint instantly grabbed the attention of the Techno fraternity. A heavy, muscular and stripped sound was born from what was to become one of the most exciting Techno artists. Releases under the pseudonyms Pacific Blue and Relay soon followed, continuing along Shifted’s Techno lines, but built on a deeper, more understated sound.

Remixes followed from Sandwell District artists Rrose and Silent Servant and Shifted’s growing demand as a remixer himself led to reworks of UK Techno legends The Black Dog as well as peers Sigha and Cio D’Or amongst others. Several ‘secret’ white labels were also released with which no name was attributed.

2011 also saw the launch of his Avian imprint. Confirming the calibre of Shifted’s productions, the début (vinyl only) release ‘AVN #001’ struck a chord with its thudding drums and deep, pulsating stabs. The EP received weekly plays from Techno’s top players and became a record that didn’t leave the bag. With these productions and remixes gaining warranted attention on the dancefloor, Shifted’s gig diary matured accordingly, DJing at some of the world’s best clubs including the fabled Berghain (Berlin) and Fabric (London).

DEMDIKE STARE BIO

Demdike Stare is the occult themed collaboration between Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker. Using the stepping stones of vinyl and VHS history as inspiration, and obscure hardware as the means, Demdike Stare create ethereal music that emanates from the unconscious. Fusing starkly different musical backgrounds, Sean hails from the Finder’s Keeper’s stable, and Miles through his numerous techno orientated monikers, they blend the two distinct worlds and genre obfuscation becomes the norm.

Crossing from cold analog drones to hints of lush Eastern mysticism without losing focus, Demdike Stare create their own unique atmosphere during their live shows, sampling VHS movies and soundtracking their journey through the visual and aural archive of the last 50 years.

PETE SWANSON BIO

Following the devastating one-two punch of ‘Man With Potential’ and ‘Pro Style’ for Type Records, Pete Swanson returns with his latest ode to his deformed warehouse techno sound with ‘Punk Authority’ – his most damaged solo offering to date.

After leaving cornerstone US noise duo Yellow Swans, Swanson made it his mission to pull apart the techno genre by the seams. Using a deceptively simple synthesizer/tape setup, Swanson siphons his club constructions through a hoarse mix of saturation and overdrive, resulting in something aggressive yet effortlessly foot pushing.

SILENT SERVANT BIO

Silent Servant is a producer responsible for some of the most eclectic and innovative techno to have emerged in recent years. Part of an exhilarant creative resurgence in the genre, he was also the newest talent in the Sandwell District line-up. Along with Regis and Female, of the legendary English Downwards imprint, and NYC underground legend Function, Silent Servant had not only founded a new, contemporary sound, but also the support needed for the basis of a highly conceptual and uncompromising new label rooted in experimentalism and a semi-industrial aesthetic. His recent ventures include releases on Vatican Shadows’ Hospital Records imprint and his own latest imprint, JEALOUS GOD.
